Pay: $22hr

 

Position Objective:

Responsible for assisting the Automation Engineers / Technicians to achieve the below objective:

Continuously improving current automated processes to ensure that product conforms to specifications while operating in the safest and most cost-effective manner.

Provide automation engineering support in new assembly lines / cells, as well as non- production functions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform automation engineering activities supporting new product development to ensure the product meets design requirements for automated manufacturing and assembly. Develop automated assembly process implementation from product development into manufacturing. This includes designing, fabricating, qualifying test equipment, fixtures, and tools as needed to build or manufacture company product to design specifications.
  • Write and edit PLC programs as needed to support production using Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Write and edit robotic programs as needed to support production with Fanuc, Epson, UR robots.
  • Assist Automation Engineers and/or other engineers in the design and detailing of items within a project with the assistance of 2-D CAD and/or CREO design software.
  • After design completion - perform construction/assembly, estimating, installation, and programming.
  • Research, develop, and implement ergonomic improvements and labor reductions by the use of robotics or semi-automated tooling for production.
  • Perform other duties and assume accountability as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

 

Relationship to Others:

  • Automation Engineers: Work direction.

  • Automation Manager: Weekly reviews.

  • Tool Room, Maintenance:  Provide work direction as needed to fabricate and install equipment, tools, jigs, and fixtures.

  • Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, Vendors:  Main contact points in making, qualifying, improving, and resolving processes as needed to make product.

 

 

Education and Experience:

Education

  • In pursuit or has a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering / technical discipline.  Completed most or all upper division electives.

Experience

  • Past work in mechatronics or similar role desirable.
