The company operates as two divisions, Decorative Finishing (DF) and Industrial Solutions (IS).

 

Position Objective
The Commissioning Engineer will support the Engineered Systems (ENSY) team on all application engineering initiatives, including on-site commissioning of newly installed finishing equipment.  This position will require involvement with the engineering and project management teams during project execution and will close the loop with the customer during acceptance, training and ongoing technical service. The goal is to deliver the desired customer experience to promote customer satisfaction and retention, and support market share growth.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and commissioning support for industrial finishing equipment and systems.
    • Preparation for installation; review drawings, parts lists and operating manuals; participate in premobilization meetings internally and with customers.
    • Knowledgeable on installation processes for all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, HMI’s, sensors and instrumentation.
    • Participate in system testing and troubleshooting to ensure proper functionality and performance.
    • Provide new equipment overview for customers and start discussions on preventive maintenance, spare & wear parts, etc.
    • Document all commissioning activities and prepare sign-off documentation for customers.
  • Application lab support during in-house customer trials, training, and industry events.
    • Schedule, assist with and perform lab trials, customer and industry training, and general housekeeping.
    • Collaborate with application lab technician and manager to ensure timely completion of lab trial reports and training documentation as needed.
  • Build positive relationships with internal team and customers.
    • Support the ENSY team during the project planning and execution process.
    • Collaborate with technical team and sales on development of new solutions, sharing information across the organization.
  • Follow all company’s procedures and protocols. Safety is number one in everything you do.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Relationship To Others
Frequent contact with the application lab and service team, project managers, engineers and others to support all aspects of lab activities and ENSY projects. Close collaboration with your manager to ensure systems are fully operational and meeting specifications.  Direct communication with customers during system start-up, commissioning, training, formal system acceptance and ongoing technical support phase.

 

Dimensions of Position
Responsible for ensuring that systems, equipment, and processes are installed, tested, and functioning according to design specifications for assigned projects, utilizing own and other approved resources as necessary. 

 

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) and 1+ year related commissioning experience in industrial field, or engineering; can be entry level with some relevant internship experience, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, training, and experience as determined by the hiring manager and Human Resources.

 

Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and Passport to be able to work and travel in North America.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Basic understanding of control systems and instrumentation
  • Forklift Certification

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and CAD

 

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a field or office setting, including labs and warehouse. A job in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree or may involve sitting with long periods of computer work and phone usage. Requires some lifting and carrying of materials and equipment, operating vehicles, tools, and other instruments adhering to all safety requirements. Must be able to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays. Travel is required up to 75% including day trips and extended trips for up to 3 weeks on the road, including weekends.
