Pay: $22hr

 

Position Objective:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) intern will primarily assist the EHS department by performing risk assessments, conducting safety and environmental audits, support the creation and development of safety training materials, investigating incidents while also gaining hands-on experience in workplace safety practices and environmental compliance in a manufacturing setting.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Training Support: Help create, revise and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Incident Investigation: Participate in incident investigation with a focus on root cause analysis and corrective actions for preventive measures.
  • Audits and Inspections: Conduct safety inspections of work areas, identifying possible hazards and non-compliance opportunities while documenting findings for corrective action.
  • Risk Assessments: Participate in risk assessments to identify potential hazards, severity, likelihood and recommend controls/corrective actions for continual improvement.
  • Environmental Compliance: Support environmental initiatives to include Stormwater, SPCC, Chemical Management, Hazardous Waste and more.
  • Data Analysis: Use software to analyze data and identify trends. Create reports to communicate opportunities that will support decision making relating to EHS.
  • Industrial Hygiene: Collect data to anticipate, identify and control workplace hazards to protect worker health and the community.
  • Administrative: Maintain EHS records and update safety documentation. Assist with the preparation of presentations and reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Relationship To Others:

The EHS Intern will meet with the EHS Manager on a regular basis and work together to propel Wagner towards its safety goals of an injury free workplace while establishing and maintaining a culture where workplace health and safety is the number one priority.

This position will work closely with other departments and teams such as Engineering, Continual Improvement, Production, Quality and Warehouse to identify and control hazards in the workplace. They may also work closely with the maintenance and facilities department as well as the toolroom on corrective action implementation.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Control and Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of OSHA regulations, environmental laws and safety principles or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the hiring manager and Human Resources.

Working Conditions

Work performed may take place in an office setting, production or warehouse areas. The position may occasionally lift up to 50lbs, work in an environment with noise or other environmental factors. Safety glasses are required while in production areas and will be provided by Wagner.
