Electrical Engineer Intern

Position Objective:

Hands-on, day-to-day work related to Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

 

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Assist lead engineers with day-to-day issues.  The intern will be involved in assisting lead engineers for circuit board design and prototyping for new product development projects. This includes schematics, circuit board, library component creation, design, edits, and cleanup using Altium Designer software.
  • Lab assistance in soldering and assembling prototypes and fixtures.
  • Lab assistance in inventory management.

 

 

 

Relationship To Others:

 

Position is part of the product development group and supports Electrical engineering design team.

 

 

Dimensions of Position:

 

This position needs a strong self-sufficient individual that can help design, prototype, and test new electronic designs.  This position will work closely with lead engineers and technicians.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Education

Enrolled in ABET accredited school in BSEE or equivalent.

 

Experience

Knowledge and course work in electronic hardware and software.  Working knowledge of “Altium Designer” or similar hardware design software like Eagle is a huge plus.

 

Skills

  • Basic skill in Microsoft Office 2010, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, MS Project, Microsoft Visual Basic and MS Visio
  • Knowledge of Altium or similar PCB design software like Eagle
  • Knowlege of C and/or Python, familiarity with platforms such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi
  • Ability to use multi-meters, oscilloscopes and function generators
  • Excellent critical thinking and complex problem solving skills
  • Must be able to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Exercises good judgment and has good decisional making skills
  • General engineering tasks as directed by lead engineers.
