Pay: $24-29hr
Position Objective:
The Assembly Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the assembly team, ensuring production targets are met, and maintaining a high standard of quality control. This role involves coordinating the activities of assembly workers, training new employees, and ensuring safety and efficiency within the assembly department. The Assembly Lead will work closely with the Production Supervisor to optimize processes and ensure the timely completion of projects.
Responsibilities:
- Mentors new and existing staff and provides regular feedback verbally or in written from; delegates, monitors, and reviews the progress of assigned work to ensure accuracy and consistency. Facilitate daily Tier 1 meetings and attend daily Tier 2 meetings to drive assigned area to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets
- Accountable for the compliance with all safety rules and regulations and prompt corrective action concerning safety hazards. Coach team to identify hazards and partner with cross-functional team to remove hazards and maintain compliance. Model safe behaviors.
- Maintain the highest levels of product conformance to specifications by assuring standard work is followed and equipment is operating per specifications. Support cross-functional team to assess performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide leadership to support daily production requirements. Train backup personnel and allocate labor as required. Leverage tier accountability system to request cross-functional help to remove obstacles to achieving goals as required.
- Reduce overall cost by driving lean principles, including rapid problem solving and cycle time reduction for assigned portion of value stream.
- Confidentially handles usual, unusual or difficult inquiries or situations, or may direct to the appropriate individual as needed; may provide documented input to supervisor for performance reviews, corrective action, performance improvement and candidate selection.
- Perform other duties as required.
Relationship to Others:
Technical mentor for personnel in assigned portion of production.
Daily collaboration with quality, planning, procurement, manufacturing engineering, tooling, and maintenance departments to fulfill production schedule
Dimensions of Position:
Provide work direction for approximately 5-20 operations personnel for assigned portion of production.
Education and Experience:
Education
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required or 3 years related Wagner experience, proven skills of leading without authority, ability to effectively communicate with peers at all levels, proven capability to back up team lead;
- Post-secondary education or certification in Lean Manufacturing, Process Flow, or related field preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and continuous incremental improvement.
Experience
- At least three years’ experience in a customer responsive, lean manufacturing/ assembly/ distribution operation. Forklift certification or license.
