Lean Manufacturing Industrial Engineering Intern

Pay: $22hr

 

Location: This position will be on-site in Plymouth, MN.

 

Position Objective:

Internship position responsible for assisting the Continuous Improvement and Production Teams to achieve the objective below: Continuously improving production systems to ensure that daily operations are capable of meeting demand expectations. Must hold paramount achieving customer excellence and employee safety. Provide team support in daily operations, develop and implement improvement projects in current assembly lines and machining areas.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead lean initiatives including demand-driven continuous flow, 6-S, and elimination of wastes through the use of lean principles. Track progress by the use of setting goals and tracking progress to ensure goals are met.
  • Work hand in hand with supervisors in supporting the daily production expectations and plan, through the Tier Meetings and Gemba Walks
  • Work hand in hand with the operations team to plan and execute shop transformation projects. i.e. full-line relocations.
  • Work hand in hand with Support Teams to plan and execute material flow and line-side material presentation projects.
  • Work with supervisors and operators to identify and execute cost reduction projects and/or ergonomic process improvements.
  • Perform other duties and assume accountability as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

 

Education

  • In pursuit or has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering Degree. Completed most or all upper division courses.

 

Experience

  • Past work in an assembly environments desirable, not required.
