Position Objective:    

The individual in this role is responsible for operating forklifts and/or other material handling equipment as part of the production process. The team member will utilize equipment while performing tasks to include- picking units and/or parts and accessories for shipment, moving inventory to designated locations, unloading trucks/trailers and containers for inbound product and assisting in its movement off the receiving dock and maintaining appropriate paperwork.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1.  Unloads incoming trucks and containers and verifies that all items are accounted for, reporting damages or discrepancies; enters inventory items on the computer and forwards paperwork to appropriate individuals.
  2. Picks units and/or parts and accessories for shipment to customers by reading a pick document, using a hand held RF Gun, or voice technology and validates accuracy of job orders by accessing computer system.  May consolidate orders with additional shipments as needed and packs and labels according to customer shipping and routing requirements.
  3. Operates forklift and other material handling equipment to fill customer orders and move inventory throughout the warehouse.
  4. Sorts UPS and other courier shipments of smaller items.
  5. Matches manifests to purchase orders and prints and attaches travelers to product(s).
  6. Picks and ships ATS’s, WV’s and maintains DMA process DMR’s and specialty shipments
  7. Offload, palletize, and inventory inbound shipments.
  8. Assist in the physical aspect of cycle counts and selected inventory daily and identifies and reports any inventory discrepancies.
  9. Receives work direction from department leadership, however, incumbent is responsible for prioritizing his/her own work by sales allocation, date needed to fill and logistics of work order.
  10. Records appropriate data on shipping documents using an ERP system and follows unique customer I.D requirements.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED); post-secondary education preferred. 
  • Must have at least 2 years of related experience and ability to obtain forklift certification or license.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple and complex instructions and follow written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations such as to adding, subtracting, and dividing using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and skill using Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
  • Ability to use scanners for counting and inventory tracking and control.
  • Knowledge of the standard methods used to pack and unpack materials and supplies from trucks, containers and racking/shelving.
  • Ability to operate manual and powered material handling equipment such as electric and gas forklifts, pallet jacks, and high lifts.
  • Ability to listen and be aware of production floor activity to support a safe and hazard free working environment.
  • Ability to be objective and flexible in adapting to changes in priorities, work assignments and other interactions that may impact pre-established courses of action for completing projects and assignments.
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or varying shifts as requested in order to maintain adequate coverage during hours of operation.
