Title:  Sr. Electronics Hardware Engineer                                        

 

Reports to:     Engineering Manager                                                 

 

 

Position Objective: 

 

Provide technical leadership and guidance in the designing, planning, operation, and maintenance of electric or electronic components, equipment, systems, and machinery used in generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy.

 

 

Accountabilities:

 

  • Design, layout and prototype sophisticated analog and digital circuit boards that meet UL, CSA, CE, EMI and WEEE/RoHS requirements utilizing Altium Design Software. Provide the necessary documentation and files to properly document the project into SAP.  

 

  • Establish the necessary test protocol for testing the above circuitry as well as any specific hardware to ensure that the product is manufactured correctly and functions properly.

 

  • Work with suppliers, such as electronic assembly houses and motor manufactures, to develop new designs, trouble shoot existing designs, as well as make improvements to current designs.

 

  • Give direction to lab technicians for testing and qualifying designs. Write Standard Test Procedures (STPs) that give direction to technicians.  Write and/or approve test reports.

 

  • Work with cross-functional teams to support the overall product development process with a professional attitude.

 

 

Relationship to Others:

 

Position is part of the product development group and supports new marketing projects.  Will be heavily involved with working with outside electronic suppliers and motor manufacturers.

 

 

Dimensions of Position:

 

This position needs a strong self-sufficient individual that can design, prototype, and test new designs for electronic controlled sprayers and accessories.  This position will work closely with other engineers, designers, and technicians.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

*Education

 

  • Bachelors in Engineering or equivalent

 

*Experience

 

  • Minimum of six years’ experience of optimizing sophisticated hardware designs for electronic controlled power equipment, preferably brushless dc motor controllers. 
  • Must have a working knowledge of “C” language, Lab View experience is a plus.

 

*Skills

  • Basic skill in Microsoft Office 2010, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, MS Project, Microsoft Visual Basic and MS Visio
  • Advanced skill in Altium
  • Working knowledge of “C”
  • Advanced use of lab equipment, such as multi-channel oscilloscopes, wave meters and function generators
  • Excellent critical thinking and complex problem solving skills
  • Must be able to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Exercises good judgment and has good decisional making skills
  • Practices active listening to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
