Title:  HR Training Specialist                                                 


Reports to:  VP of Human Resources - Americas           



Position Objective:

This position focuses on building systems, process and programs to support employee learning and organizational development.  The Training Specialist is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of company’s workforce to ensure business can meet its current and future business objectives.  Supports the upskilling of talent and drives towards a digitally fit organization.  Supports the overall HR function with an emphasis in developing and implementing best practices related to learning and organizational development. 




% of Time      

  • 20%     Conducts needs assessments with department leaders to identify training necessary to enhance employee job performance and overall company performance.  Ensures training plans are in place for ongoing skill development (upskilling)  and succession planning. 


  • 25%     Schedules, leads, and/or coordinates training solutions for employees from onboarding to offboarding.   Ensures effective new hire orientation and onboarding experience.


  • 15%     Develop and maintain tracking system for employee training activities.  Makes use of LMS technology to drive learning experience.   Monitors and measures the success/effectiveness of training programs.   


  • 5%       Oversees the internship program for the Americas region.  Coordinates global assignments assisting with all aspects of the exchange of global talent. 


  • 15%     Assist in the design and implementation of organizational development programs focusing on cultural development and organizational change initiatives to reinforce the installation of core values.   


  • 15%     Manages training costs in line with annual budget.  Lead annual training plan to continuously upskill and ensure a digitally fit organization.  Reinforces learning through coaching, communication and follow-up with participants and leaders.  


  • 5%       Assist with related generalist activities and tasks in support of the HR Department. 





Relationship To Others: Member of the HR team working globally within the Wagner organization.  Works closely with all people managers within Americas region.  External contacts with consultants, trainers, and other learning partners.



Dimensions of Position:   Works with confidential information including salary data, personnel files, company records, succession plans, and organizational strategy. 



Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Psychology, or Business Administration is desired. Related professional certification preferred (SHRM-CP/SCP, American Society for Training/Development CPLP, International Society for Performance Development etc) is a plus.



  • 3+ years’ experience in building training programs within a corporate environment preferably within manufacturing industry.

  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as experience using LMS Learning Management System. 
  • Excellent written, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.  Must be comfortable speaking in front of a group with the ability to present training material to audience of various size.
  • Skilled in active listening 
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to build, partner and maintain relationships internally and with organizational leaders.    Must be personable with the ability to read people and adjust interaction.
  • Highest degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality; demonstrated discretion in the handling of highly sensitive material and information
  • Team player, willing to do a variety of tasks in support of department
  • Ability to analyze processes and data to determine training needs and develop materials
  • Ability to provide innovative training techniques which mirror current industry trends and standards
  • Competent in adult learning theory, training delivery, transfer of learning, training content development, and monitoring training effectiveness.
