Title: Project Engineer

Key member of the Engineered Systems (ENSY) team tasked with developing solutions to meet customer needs for Powder Coating Paint Systems, with possible exposure to liquid paint systems and adhesive & sealant dispensing products.  Strives to achieve excellence in all aspects of the role in order to improve customer satisfaction, maximize customer retention & increase profitability.




  • Ensure all engineering deliverables are produced according to project cost, quality, and schedule requirements; creating and maintaining project documentation including:
    • Installation site surveys and correspondence with customer through drawing approval.
    • Design equipment to customer specifications, select components and parts, request and obtain necessary quotes, and enter purchase requisitions in SAP.
    • AutoCAD drawings to support the approval process and all manufacturing, assembly, installation, and commissioning needs (i.e. mechanical, electrical and pneumatic drawings, schematics, ductwork, assemblies, utility needs at customer’s facility, etc.).
    • Internal company orders (WAP’s) preparation.
    • Major Equipment Specifications; booth, collector, cyclone, control panels, etc.
    • Drawing log, BOM’s, Ship Lists, In-House Production Order Reports with revision dates.
    • Release In-House Production Orders in SAP.
    • Sub Contract Bid Packages, Field Installation Drawing Packages and “As-Built” Drawings.
  • Support and/or manage local KONFEX configurator, helping to ensure accuracy of data for all local supplied content that goes into ENSY projects; collaborate with Global KONFEX team on European project supply topics.
  • Manage internal aspects of assigned projects using MS Project and SAP project builder; drive engineering, purchasing, warehouse/assembly, logistics and service/installation team during execution; elevate risk as needed to ensure escalation and support for team.
  • Conduct post mortem meetings and ensure all action items (engineering and other project team functions) are completed and monitored to verify continuous improvement on future projects.
  • Complete budgetary quotations with oversight from proposals/applications engineering.
  • Provide support to sales, service technicians and customers on design-related issues.
  • Oversee Sustaining Engineering \ Product Support \ Product & Process documentation efforts. 
  • New product design: work collaboratively with sales & marketing to develop innovative new designs and products.  Foster and participate in a creative thinking environment including direct hands-on involvement in design and development projects.

Dimensions of Position

  • Leads projects and supports team, operations and sales by delivering engineered solutions according to the project requirements for cost, quality and schedule. 
  • Build positive relationships with all functions within WSI, the ENSY organization and with customers.




  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Project Management certification (e.g. PMP) desirable.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering Discipline desirable (may offset industry experience required).



  • 5+ years as mechanical engineer in industrial field or equivalent; experience with HVAC, powder and liquid paint systems and/or paint application equipment is a plus.
  • 3+ years engineering experience in paint finishing industry or similar with an emphasis on Industrial Powder, Liquid or Adhesives coating systems.
  • 2+ years of AutoCAD experience or equivalent, solid modeling experience a plus.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Personnel management / leadership experience is a plus

  • Comprehensive knowledge of agency requirements (CSA, FM, UL, ULC, CE, NFPA, NEC, OSHA) and engineering documentation standards per ASME/ANSI.  Applies the competence independently, primarily in situations of limited complexity.
