Regional Sales Manager- West Coast

Position is for West Coast or Southwest Region



Position Objective: Develops and implements sales strategy for increasing sales and profits.  Responsible for calling on assigned accounts, developing and coordination sales presentations, forecasts and ensuring appropriate sales service through the effective leadership/management of sales team including; assigned manufacturer’s representative organizations and direct sales people.





  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate corporate goals.


  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.


  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules, and discount rates.


  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales program.


  • Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.


  • Advises dealers, distributors, and clients concerning sales and advertising techniques.


  • Assigns sales territory to sales representatives.


  • Analyzes sales statistics to formulate policy and assist dealers in promoting sales.


  • Directs product simplification and standardization to eliminate unprofitable items from sales line.


  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.


  • Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives.


  • Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.


  • Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales related units.


  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.


  • Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.


  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.


  • Directs product research and development.


  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition.


  • Recommends or approves budget, expenditures, and appropriations for research and development work.




Relationship to Others:


Supervises sales team to ensure desired results.  Frequently in contact with various inter-company departments to coordinate customer satisfaction and support.





Dimensions of Position:


Directs and supervises sales team in the performance of their duties. Works with confidential company information including product design and financials.





Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sales or related field is desired.  MBA is a plus




  • Minimum of five years sales experience is required, preferably in related industry.  Familiarity with product line is desired.




  • Intermediate level of computer ability with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Powerpoint.  Working knowledge of Stratum and the ability to use iPad for making presentations or for training.
  • Must have good negotiation skills with the ability to bring others together and reconcile differences. 
  • Strong understanding of sales profit and loss concepts.
  • Should be self-motivated with the ability to achieve results when working remotely.
  • Be able to multi-task and manage priorities
  • Must have good presentation skills with the ability to tell a story.
