Title:  Senior Operations Analyst                              

 

Reports to:  US Regional Controller            

 

Position Objective:

Partners with multiple business functions to analyze and report on various aspects of the US manufacturing business including sales, operations, engineering, accounting, and product costing. This person is the controlling team subject matter expert related to inventory control, manufacturing variances, and in-bound freight.

 

Accountabilities:

35%        Manufacturing Variances

• Perform monthly variance analysis to identify potential issues, possibilities for variance reductions, and be able to discuss with management.

• Provide periodic KPI's on Productivity, Scrap, Work Order Variances, PPV, Cycle counts etc.

• Support month-end closing processes to include SAP production order settlement, inventory reporting, analysis of variance accounts, etc.

• Research and analyze trends of freight costs and the underlying reasons for periodic fluctuations in cost estimates.

• Provide customer service to other departments within the company on issues related to operations and inventory accounting.

• Calculate and review accruals for freight related costs.

 

30%        Inventory & Product Costing

• Partner with Purchasing, Sales, and Supply Chain functions to improve inventory forecast accuracy and ensure correct levels of inventory are maintained.

• Report on both progress and accuracy of cycle counts throughout the year and assist with annual physical inventory audit.

• Periodic reporting and reconciliation of inventory including car stock and consignment locations.

• Analyze production costs and proactively partner with Product Costing, Operations and Supply Chain teams on root cause analysis and solution development related to standard cost variances.

• Analyze material usage to identify potential excess and obsolete inventory items, and partner with Sales and Operations teams to develop action plans related to existing E&O items.

• Support and back up US Cost Estimator as necessary

• Support internal and external audits by serving as US controlling team expert on all inventory and standard cost related aspects of audits.

 

30%        Controlling and Reporting

• Assist in preparation of monthly financial forecasts and the fixed annual budget (FAB).

• Develop partnerships and collaborate with cost center owners to understand and communicate trends in expenses, deviations to budget, and changes to forecasts.

• Assist in preparation of monthly and annual internal management reports.

• Review and evaluate capital expenditure requests for proper preparation and financial documentation.

• Utilize SAP and Excel to navigate through large data sets and summarize findings with strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts within required timeframe.

• Research transactional errors, determine root-cause and partner with appropriate team(s) to implement solutions.

• Collaborate with global partners on SAP and other group standardization, automation, and improvement initiatives.

• Focus on continuous improvement of controlling processes to find opportunities for improvement in timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency.

• Perform other duties and assume accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives.

 

 

Relationship to Others:

Frequently interacts with all levels of Wagner Spray Tech management and employees and international colleagues. Has contact and exposure to Wagner International officers, affiliated companies, bank reps, external auditors, and others.

 

 

Dimensions of Position:

Ensures the accuracy of inventory values, analyzes drivers of manufacturing variances and their impact to the P&L, understands and communicates process changes impact on standard the costing model, margins, and overall P&L. Recommends and implements new concepts and approaches, regardless of obstacles, to advance the scope and value of the position.

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
  • 4-6 years of related experience required with 2 years in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • CMA and/or CPA preferred but not required.
