Title:  Vice President of Operations – Americas

Reports to: Divisional COO                     

 

Position Objective:  Plans, directs, and leads the operations group for Wagner Americas region. Formulates and recommends production, manufacturing & logistics strategies, policies and programs to guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability of the operation. Enhance the operational methods and procedures, systems and principles in the areas of information flow and management, business processes, enhanced management reporting. Directs and coordinates operational activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within quality standards and cost objectives, and at optimal inventory levels.

15%                   1.                  Drive and support strategic supply chain / industrial footprint development aligned with overall strategy to outperform competitors and market growth

 

15%                  2.                   Driving operational excellence in production and logistic activities.  Develops and recommends short and long-term production concepts, plans and programs, directs the manufacture/assembly of products at the lowest cost consistent with established specifications as to quality and quantity.

                                               

10%                   3.                  Provides Operations support, including SIOP, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, and production, to assure new product development projects are completed as defined by the division Product Creation Process. 

 

10%                  4.                   Sets up and maintains inventory controls and levels to conform with budgets and forecasts.  Supports and assures that Purchasing policies and procedures are in place and followed     

 

10%                  5.                   Drives and improve integrated planning, organization, control and handling of the flow of goods and materials with the associated information flows.

 

 

10%                 6.                     Assures that customer orders are processed accurately and in a timely manner to meet customer requirements regarding on-time shipping, fill rate, and packaging requirements.

 

10%                 7.                    Drives continuous improvements to standard manufacturing/assembly practices based on comparative studies of methods, costs, and production figures.  Ensures that operations conform with local, state and federal governmental regulations. 

 

5%                   8.                    Directs preparation of cost control reports, cost estimates, labor, and facility requirements forecasts.    

                                               

5%                   9.                    Directs the maintenance and adequacy of physical facilities to support the Americas business requirements.   

 

10%                10.                    Build superior forecasting and planning process within SAP to drive transparency in planning and reduce lead times 

 

 

 

Relationship To Others:  Directly manages manufacturing, SIOP, product distribution management personnel, and Lean Management.  Indirectly manages 100+ staff and production level personnel.  Regular communication with Product Management, Finance, Executive Management, Human Resources, and Sales personnel, as well as with personnel at both Wagner divisions and at multiple locations. 

 

 

Dimensions of Position:

 

Responsible for materials planning/scheduling, production, meeting product specifications, developing product standard costing, product distribution, and inbound/outbound freight. Regular coordination and alignment with Purchasing on strategies and spend.

 

Annual direct material purchases of approximately $100-150 million.  Annual cost center expense levels of approximately $10 million.  Annual COGS of approximately $125-175 million.  Works with confidential information including company financials, salary data, sensitive product engineering specification information and company strategic plans.

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

*Education

College degree in engineering-related discipline, manufacturing, or business is required. Graduate level degree a plus.

 

*Experience

  • Extensive operations, production strategies and supply chain Management experience in leading international companies
  • Excellent track record in defining and successfully implementing operational performance improvement programs. (DFM, cost down programs, etc…)
  • Strong leadership experience in developing people and operational organizations
